Mirador video interpretation/remake by Molly (10) & Jojo (7)

July 7th, 2008 by rasmus

We have just come across this on youtube. It is über cool! We love it! Thank you Molly and Jojo!!!!!

Here is what Molly and Jojo´s Father says about the video:
Ever wonder what that strange video is about, with the little bird-guy? We sure did! We even wrote to Efterklang to ask them, but they never wrote back (red. we did write back actually). So what DO we know? Well for one thing, it seems that Danish people like to whisper and mumble when they sing: “Something smthg smthg smthg Mountains… smthg smthg smthg Sea…” Well, wonder no more! Here is the video that will explain it all for you! The new words are by Molly (10) and Jojo (7). It should all be perfectly clear to everyone after this!

Keyboards and vocals by Molly; Drums and vocals by Jojo. (Daddy helped with counting out all those weird “12’s” and “13’s”…)

Animation is by Molly, Jojo, Charlie and Daddy. We tried every kind of animation we could do in the living room: Forest World and Birdie Ski-Lift by Jojo; Paint World by Charlie (and Daddy); Lollipop World by Molly; BerryWorld by Daddy; Birdie and Fishie Flying by Molly and Jojo.

“The Extra Mounten” storybook by Jojo

Lyrics:
MIRADOORS
(Weird Doors)

Wandering through the woods so far
Diving into the ocean
From clouds to sea
Just use the mountain to reach the sky…
La la la la, la la
Fall down from the flowers
Loopdy loop and fall
The extra mounten
Once there were mountens
The mounten was sad,
One day a Mama was getting a baby
The baby was coming
The baby came
Despite all the strange melting away
From lollypop Land
Painting a world
Look out for THE CROCODILE
Falling straight through
Blueberries and stars
Strawberries too

and now for the masterpiece video and new version of our song!

Efterklang to score two Theater plays

June 25th, 2008 by rasmus

We are not touring these days so there is lots of nice spare time to update websites!
We are proud to inform you guys that we have hooked up with Teater GROB - a Copenhagen based theater who sets up very nice plays one various stages!

We will score the two plays they are setting up this fall. First one is “En Plads i Mit Hjerte” (a place in my heart) which premieres August 23rd at Kaleidoskop in Copenhagen.

Next play is “Som Hos Dig Står” (I dont´t know how to translate this - any suggestions from the Danes reading this? - maybe “who by you stand” ??) This play premieres November 17 2008 at PLEX one of our favorite places in Copenhagen.

You can read about the plays (in Danish) at Teater Grobs website: Grob.dk

Efterklang to support The National

June 17th, 2008 by rasmus

We are supporting The National for two shows in Denmark in August!

We are very happy about this, because we love that band - and especially because The National themselves specifically asked for Efterklang to support their shows in Denmark.

Their latest album Boxer has been one of the top 3 most played albums in our tour-bus since October.

August 12 - Store VEGA - Copenhagen - tickets
August 13 - Train - Aarhus - tickets
(we can´t make it home in time for the show on August 11 so another band will support that one - we will let them announce first - but we can let you know that it is a fine band!)

relief and joy - coming home to Denmark and SPOT

June 9th, 2008 by rasmus

Thursday June 5th I was traveling home to Denmark from Denver, Colorado as the last Efterklang member (the others left the day before) leaving USA and the great tour we had behind us. I hope we can come back soon as I really really liked touring in USA and the people and the reception we received - thank you!

OK - once again - I was traveling home on the 5th set to arrive 1pm in Copenhagen on June 6th exactly 12 hours before Efterklang was playing this years SPOT Festival. When I got to the airport in Denver I was told by 4 different United Airlines people that unfortunately I was going to miss my connecting flight in Chicago to Denmark due to storms. This meant I would have to stay another day in the US and more important that it would be impossible for me to play this years SPOT Festival which I was very psyched and motivated to do.

I called home and delivered the bad news to Casper from Efterklang and to Jesper our Danish booker. They immediately called around to check if we could play on the saturday instead and woke up about 15 people in the middle of the night I reckon.

I was feeling very sad and frustrated when something incredible happened! There was an earlier flight to Chicago which also was delayed and to which I was on the stand-by list for. It was completely sold-out and only 2 people got on the plane via stand-by. I was not among them, but then an airport miracle happened. One of the stewardesses went on board and came out and said that according to the computer the plane was full, but there was an empty seat in there and she pointed to me and said “get on board”.

I was so happy and thrilled. The joy and relief I felt when we played at SPOT is indescribable. It felt so good to be there. Playing for so many people and getting standing ovations two times of course helped extra on my mood. It was a great evening and a perfect way to end a month of touring in the USA.
